Breaking Silence: Pervasiveness of Oppression at UIUC (2009)

This 20 minute award-winning documentary looks at the continuing history of inequalities on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus. It exposes the hidden history of racism on the campus and combines footage from University archives, interviews with students, staff, and faculty, and statistics pointing to the persistence of institutional racism.

The film was produced and narrated by Dr. Antonia Darder, along with graduate students and community members involved with the Diversity and Technology for Engaging Communities (DTEC) project (2007 - 2009), a critical narrative research project focused on conditions of social inequalities and exclusion on the UIUC campus.
